Help me keep my miniature goats in Nashville

The Issue

I am a resident of Nashville, TN. I have two miniature goats named Nono and Turkey. They were pulled from a harmful situation when they were just 4 months old and have been with me ever since.
However, current regulations threaten to separate us. This is not only heartbreaking for me but also detrimental for these animals who have known nothing but love and care in time with me. I got a very unexpected visit from animal control the other day stating that my goats cannot be in city limits.  My babies have been here with me for two years now and have never put anyone in harms way.

The children in the neighborhood stop by my fence daily to pet, feed and play with the goats.

I have put alot of time and effort into making sure they maintain a proper special diet such as fresh fruits and veggies, as well as sweet goat feed.

Nono, whom has been with me a little bit longer knows a series of tricks such as stand(on back legs), spin(like a ballerina on back legs), jump, walk backwards, and kneel.

My goats area is a fenced off grassy area. They have open shade, a shelter and jackets for the winter. In their enclosure they have two fisher price toddler activity gyms with slides, a trampoline, and a cot.

Miniature goats make wonderful pets; they're intelligent, friendly, and require less space than traditional farm animals. According to the Miniature Goat Registry Inc., these creatures can thrive in an average-sized backyard as long as they have proper shelter and companionship.

In cities across the United States such as Seattle and Portland, laws have been amended to allow residents to keep miniature goats as pets within city limits (source: American Miniature Goat Association). It's time for Nashville to follow suit.

We urge local lawmakers in Nashville to reconsider the regulations surrounding pet ownership. Let's create a more inclusive environment that recognizes all forms of non-traditional pet families like ours.

Please sign this petition if you believe that every pet owner has the right to keep their loved ones close by them at home - be it dogs, cats or miniature goats.
