The Issue

The Province of British Columbia and the City of Vancouver are not making good on the promises they made, nor are they offering any tangible support to the small businesses who are suffering during the construction of the new skytrain line.

The City and the Province need to develop programs that provide financial support or tax breaks to the businesses along the Broadway corridor that are directly affected by the construction.

Without at least a break on property taxes, many small businesses may not survive, and we could be left with nothing but big box stores after the dust settles. Many of the stores you love could be gone, and many of the great local entrepreneurs could lose their livelihoods.
