**UPDATE* * for everyone who supported Mrs.Roos!

Grateful to announce that she gets to continue doing what she loves at Lake Shore Elementary. This community’s support definitely showed how many lives she has touched and how valued she is. Seeing so many people stand behind her made her feel so loved and appreciated. Thank you all! **

Mrs. Roos has dedicated approximately 14 years to Lake Shore Elementary—nine years working in the health room and nearly five years as a Kindergarten Teacher Assistant. She consistently goes above and beyond for students and staff and has built lasting relationships with the children, families, and teachers at Lake Shore.

An additional Teacher Assistant position was created in January 2026 and was understood to be potentially temporary depending on enrollment and staffing numbers. Although Mrs. Roos has served Lake Shore for approximately 14 years, her nine years in the health room are not being counted toward Teacher Assistant seniority. As a result, the TA who arrived at Lake Shore in January has the option to remain based on greater TA seniority, while Mrs. Roos is being involuntarily excessed.

We understand that AACPS has staffing and seniority requirements. However, we respectfully ask AACPS to consider Mrs. Roos’s 14 years of dedication to this school, the relationships she has established with students and staff, and the importance of continuity for the children she supports.

This petition is not against another employee. It is a request for AACPS to explore every available option to keep Mrs. Roos at the Lake Shore community she has served for nearly 14 years.
