Help JC Chasez’s sophomore solo album, The Story of Kate, be commercially released
Why this petition matters
Help JC Chasez’s unreleased jewel of an album, The Story of Kate, be commercially released.
In the Spring of 2007, JC Chasez’s sophomore album, The Story of Kate, was meant to be released after years of work but was unjustifiably sabotaged and shelved by his label, Jive Records (now absorbed by RCA Records under Sony Music Entertainment), and JC was left with the inability to release it. As he does not have the sole rights to the album (many people worked on it, therefore there are a variety of rights holders), JC, who is currently working under Universal Music, although intended for the album to be released, cannot release it.
Some fans who ended up with a sample copy of The Story of Kate had leaked the album online, and it quickly gained traction and was loved by many, accumulating thousands of views within 24 hours, before being shut down. A similar situation occurred on Apple Music where 4 songs on the album received stars, thus showcasing its popularity, before being shut down. His singles that were semi-released (radios played them before being pulled, and fans would share amongst themselves) have hundreds of thousands of views on some videos (accumulating more than a million views when adding the distributed videos throughout) on platforms such as YouTube. There is plenty of demand for the release of The Story of Kate and with an official commercial release, it can be enjoyed to a greater and fuller extent by many more people, in addition to allowing JC to make his rightful profits from his music.
With the help of JC's management, Chasez Music, and/or RCA Records and Sony Music Entertainment (in addition to its chairman Rob Stringer) we ask that The Story of Kate be commercially released so that JC and those who worked on the album can benefit from their years of hard work.
We ask those who appreciate music, whether you’re a fan of JC’s or not, to sign this petition so that a talent such as JC’s voice does not remain omitted from the music industry. Please help us solve this injustice.
Please note that we are NOT forcing JC to release the album, just providing him with a chance to release it if he wants to.
