HELP INMATE RECEIVE URGENT MEDICAL CARE TO STOP FATAL OUTCOME .
The issue
This petition surrounds the critical condition of the my father (Anthony Wells) who is at risk of being another victim to death in custody, due to inadequate medical care. The prison system is
criticized for its negligence and failure to address the
severity of inmates' health issues, leading to near-fatal
experiences. My father's repeated complaints about
his worsening condition, characterized by untreated
boils and spreading infection, were ignored, with
delays in receiving hospital treatment. This situation
underscores the systemic problem of prisons not
listening to inmates and the grave consequences that
can ensue
The infection has spread and he is still as of yet to be taken back to hospital, as well as their lack of changing bandages by Doctors at Yatala labour prison, due to a shortage of bandages, leading to more risk for further infection- and also a serious risk of spreading to his blood, which he has already experienced.
As recommended by professionals at the Royal Adelaide Hospital he needs clean bandages changed every 2-3 days and cannot wait for these.
Not to mention this all could have been avoided if his complaints were taken seriously in the first place. As well as an infection going around the prison which the health authorities within the prison knew about at the time of his complaints, but didn't think to take this into consideration.
He needs to be in a hospital receiving urgent medical treatment asap, as the boils are at risk of turning into sepsis, he had recent surgery to remove the boils he already had, thats the seriousness of the condition he is in , and needs further intervention to prevent them from spreading further. As well as the health authorities in the prison to be taking more of this into consideration when treating him. After recent surgery to have the boils removed, new boils are now emerging causing serious concerns for the infection to keep on spreading.
Please sign the petition so we can help him have access to medical treatment he needs to avoid a fatal outcome. As well as change the outcome for other prisoners who are in these sickening conditions of not being treated with care, respect and proper treatment.
