Help Get Conor Back on His School Bus! 🚌❤️
Our 12-year-old son Conor is at risk of missing the education he loves because Central Bedfordshire Council has still not arranged suitable school transport, despite us winning our transport appeal.
Conor has Mowat-Wilson syndrome, severe learning disabilities, epilepsy and complex additional needs. He is non-verbal and attends Ivel Valley Special School in Biggleswade, which he absolutely LOVES.
For years, Conor travelled happily on a Council Fleet minibus alongside other children. Staff told us he would giggle all the way to school and back with his friends.
Then, in September 2025, his bus was withdrawn.
Even now, Conor stops beside his old bus at hometime, wanting to get on with his friends and not understanding why he can’t. It’s heartbreaking. 💔
For 14 months, we’ve driven Conor to and from school ourselves - approximately 64 miles every school day.
We WON our Stage 2 transport appeal on 11 September 2026. The Council’s own appeal panel found its proposed alternative arrangements unsuitable and recognised Conor’s need to travel with other children.
Yet Conor still has no suitable school transport.
The Council has since proposed arrangements that would either significantly reduce his time in school or involve journeys of approximately 90-100 minutes each way. Neither is suitable for his individual needs.
We’ve repeatedly told the Council that we cannot continue transporting Conor ourselves beyond October half term.
Conor is due back at school on Monday 2 November 2026. Without suitable transport, he risks missing vital education.
We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking Central Bedfordshire Council to fulfil its statutory duty to provide suitable school transport and urgently reinstate safe, suitable shared Council Fleet minibus transport for Conor, with appropriate safeguards and sensible journey times, so he can attend the school he loves alongside his friends.
Please sign and share our petition. Every signature helps demonstrate how many people want this resolved.
Conor can’t speak for himself, so we’re speaking up for him. ❤️
Come on CBC, let’s get Conor #BackOnTheBus! 🚌❤️
