The embassy confirmed that Jermaine’s sentence was reduced from the death penalty by hanging to life in prison. I asked the embassy staff if there was a way that Jermaine could be transferred to the U.S for a fair trial and they said they are “trying to see if there would be a way for Jermain to be transferred to the US, but it doesn’t look hopeful.” Per the conversation with Jermaine's lawyer, he stated that “in the coming dates he will challenge the result, especially since cocaine cannot be mixed with herbs because the method of treatment varies” the lawyer also stated that he “provided evidence that shows Jermaine had nothing to do with cocaine but the court took the Kuwaiti officers testimony, the court relied solely on the officers word because he swore that his words were true.” Jermaine's case is inconsistent and the Kuwaiti government refuses to release him, there is no evidence to show that Jermaine was manufacturing, or was in possession of cocaine. We ask everyone to please write to your congressman and ask them to intervene on Jermaine’s behalf. Please ask all your family and friends to sign and share the petition and to ask their family and friends to do the same. Also share the petition with news channel, reporters, social media and organizations, at this point anything will help. If we don’t do something, the government is going to forget about Jermaine's case, since he no longer is sentenced to death penalty by hanging, please don’t let Jermaine be one of the many Americans that gets lost in the corrupted government system of Kuwait. No man/woman deserves to be accused and punished for a crime that they didn’t commit. We are imploring everyone to please help Jermaine come home. Please continue to keep Jermaine in your prayers we definitely need them more than ever. Thanks in advance Karina Mateo
