Help Establish The Official Community Park & Dog Park in The Union Market Neighborhood
The Issue
At The Union Market District Parks Foundation, We are deeply committed to fostering community engagement, building social ties between neighbors, and developing the character of our neighborhood.
Our community is unique, friendly, and vibrant and we strive to keep it clean and safe. However, our current Dog Park will be displaced by the construction of a new apartment building.
The Union Market District Parks Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in 2023 with the mission to establish an official community park, dog park, and public green spaces within our neighborhood on city-owned land. We are working closely with DC Parks & Recreation towards this goal.
The loss of our current dog park space at Union Street and Neal Place NE will be deeply felt by residents who rely on it for the recreation and socialization of our pets. It's not just about having a place for dogs to play; these spaces contribute significantly to the quality of life in urban areas by providing opportunities for physical activity, relaxation, and social interaction for our pets and pet owners.
We believe that establishing an official Community Park & Dog Park within "The Union Market Neighborhood" will not only replace what we're losing but also enhance our community further by providing additional green space for all residents to enjoy.
