For decades, China has turned its back on shameful acts of animal cruelty, one of which targets endangered Asian Elephants. According to PETA, 27 countries have banned wild animal circuses. China is not one of them. We visited Wild Elephant Valley in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China, an organization that claims to be a "sanctuary" and a "rescue" for wild elephants, but sadly these gentle giants are victims of exploitation.

The majority of elephants you will see at Wild Elephant Valley are held captive at their "Elephant Domestication School". Four times per day, elephants are forced to bow, pose, headstand, dance to music and kick soccer balls in front of cheering crowds. After each performance, visitors have the ability to ride, feed and pet them. The elephants are then shackled and caged until they repeat the show. Many of them also suffer from untreated, open wounds. Please be advised: Any wildlife refuge that exploits or allows public contact with wild animals is NOT a sanctuary.

These beautiful creatures are not toys or machines programmed to perform tricks. They deserve to live in peace and we are taking a stand for them. Please sign our petition to shut down the Elephant Domestication School at Wild Elephant Valley and END wild animal circuses in China.
