Please sign this petition to push our local Councils to help us facilitate a new skatepark and bike track in Ely.

RASE (Riding and Skating Ely), need your help in their attempt to convince the City and District Councils that Ely needs a bigger, better skatepark and a bike track for all the new (and old) riders & skaters that dwell in Ely and the surrounding areas.

Remember, we have strength in numbers so share this to anyone you think would vote!  Ideally they need to live or work in East Cambridgeshire for their vote to be counted by the District Council and we are aiming for 2,000 votes.

The youth of today need all the encouragement they can to experience real life and nature. We feel that ideally Country Park (down near Sainsburys) is the perfect location to build this facility as it is located in a beautiful setting with ample land.  It just far enough away from residential areas not to cause a nuisance but close enough to the City for people to be able to attend using public transport.

As we know the best skateparks are concrete (Waterbeach and Burwell being the closest parks to Ely).  Not only is there little to no transport to Burwell but both skateparks are very overcrowded in skate-able weather.  This prevents some of the best skaters from being able to use the parks or spend time teaching and mentoring the younger users; and also prevents the younger users from participating in fear of getting in the way or looking foolish.

We feel that by adding a skatepark and a bike track within the Country Park it would enhance the location and be a family attraction for all ages.

We are also looking to build an all-weather cycle track alongside the skatepark.  At the moment young people have to travel to Bury St Edmunds or Cambridge to visit these types of tracks.  Again transport is an issue for young people and as there are few parks to go to these too become overcrowded.

The Council need our encouragement to let them know how much this would benefit the Local people and youth culture of this lovely city!
