Recently, my fiance and I came across an organization known as 1 Million Moms. This group fights against LGBTQIA+ media from Disney channel to Hallmark, attempting to completely stop LGBTQIA+ representation in the media. On their website onemillionmoms.com, they state their goal is to "stop the exploitation of our children, especially by the entertainment media (TV, music, movies, etc.)." However, looking through their website tells a story of hate and false Christian concepts, most notably their most recent campaign, titled "Disney's 'Firebuds' Targets Preschoolers with Pro-Lesbian Message in Two Moms Episode". 

Informationally, the show recently introduced a character's (Violet) parentage, revealing both to be female. Disney greenlit the show's pitch which included the dual motherhood of the character in an attempt to be more representative of the diverse world we live in today. They further define themselves as "a ministry of the American Family Association".

The AFA itself blatantly stands against Gay rights and freedom of expression as well as pornography and abortion. They were originally founded as the National Federation for Decency. Stating their purpose is to "combat the homosexual agenda." This organization is classified as a Hate Group and extremist organization by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Other "Successes" the site boasts about acts such as several sponsors backing out of the show "Little Demon", a series produced by FX and available primarily on Hulu. Cancelling a Disney Original, "The Owl House", which contained a relationship between the main character Lux (female) and secondary character Amity (female). The list continues with various cancellations, sponsor withdrawals, and more. 

Only recently has the LGBTQIA+ community been able to come into the relatively acceptable light of modern society and feel moderately safe about doing so. Should the group be allowed to continue what appears to be a march of tyranny against this community, will it truly end there?

We are petitioning for a permanent disbanding and disassembly of both organizations, 1 Million Moms and the American Family Association, for concerns of public safety and harassment towards companies and individuals as well as oppressive commentary and hate speech towards the general citizen.
