Alongside the important message to Victoria's Planning Minister sent by our petition and your direct emails, we have also been meeting with local Councils experiencing high kangaroo deaths on roadways irresponsibly built across wildlife habitat in their municipalities. Most support our proposed solutions and have been writing directly to the Minister seeking Planning changes to protect kangaroos and other wildlife. it is clear to us that only a proactive solution to kangaroo carnage, as demanded by our petition, holds the promise of ending landlocking altogether. In seeking structural reform to Planning Schemes at both Local and State government levels that entail identification of resident species and implementing wildlife protective measures as mandated conditions for the approval of development plans across wildlife habitat, we believe that landlocking and its tragic consequences can be stopped before it starts.

As we mourn the obscenely high number of wildlife carcasses spread across our nation’s roadways, that battle is already lost. Your ongoing support and the focus of our petition is for the living ones whose future, through robust protection of their survival needs, is still in our hands.
