Decline of Christmas Beetles Due to Loss of Native Eucalyptus Trees! 🌲

Christmas beetles are an iconic part of Australian summers, yet their numbers have declined sharply due to habitat loss—particularly the removal of native eucalyptus trees.
Eucalyptus trees are essential to the Christmas beetle life cycle, providing food and breeding grounds. As schools and community spaces continue to landscape and redevelop, we ask that native eucalyptus species be included where appropriate.

By planting eucalyptus trees on school grounds and in community areas, we can support local biodiversity, educate young people about conservation, and help restore a species that is disappearing from our environment.
We urge local schools, councils, and community organisations to commit to planting native eucalyptus trees as part of future landscaping and environmental programs.
