Dunkin' Donuts is within the top 10 fast food chains as well as the most popular donut chain in the U.S. Everyday, 3 million people stop at a Dunkin' and purchase a dozen donuts to enjoy with their families. As the holidays are around the corner, there are so many new flavors of donuts to come, and so many old ones that will be missed.

As many might remember or recall, in 2017, Dunkin released a special series of products ranging from the Frosted Sugar Cookie or Gingerbread cookie donut, to the Peppermint Mocha or Brown Sugar Cinnamon coffee for a limited time around Christmas. The two donuts, one being centered around a frosted sugar cookie, with a creamy cookie dough flavored filling and topped with mini sugar cookie bits, while the other being a caramel-frosted gingerbread donut sprinkled with mini gingerbread cookie toppings. These flavors were loved by many, being enjoyed all around the country in the spirit of the holidays.

For me personally, I believe that these donuts were like the bow to the present of Christmas, my favorite being the frosted sugar cookie donut; it brought a sense of joy as the season came around and the world prepared for the holidays. After trying my first bite of one, I immediately wished I had bought a dozen, and continued to go back until they were out of season. After waiting a couple of years for its next appearance, to no avail, they never returned and were shortly discontinued and disappeared from the menu forever. Many people were sad to see such a good donut go, as its light but decadant, creamy center complimented a nice warm cup of hot chocolate on a cold snowy day next to the fire place; it was surely a highlight of Dunkin's menu, and therefore should have a permanent spot as a seasonal option.

This year, Dunkin Donuts has announced a new donut, simular to those of the 2017 holiday ones, called the "Cookie Butter Donut," brining hope to those who wish for the return of the old flavors along side this new take on a unique but tasty flavor.
