Our wonderful Principal Mrs. Gaylor Castro has been reassigned to administrative duties due to an incident that occurred on June 6, 2022. The incident involving guns being brought onto school campus grounds and it was done unbeknownst to Mrs. Castro. She was unaware that her vehicle had been unloaded erroneously and the fire arms were brought into the school by an Adminstrative Assistant, not Mrs. Castro.  The reasons the guns were in her car was because she was going to transport them to a security safe box later that day. Mrs. Castro does have permits for the firearms and therefore are considered legal. 
The BSO has not decided as to whether to charge Mrs. Castro. Somerset Academy Chairman have supported Mrs. Castro. The State Attorney’s office is still determining what to do. We would like them to know that we stand with Mrs. Castro and believe she is innocent and deserves to be our Principal. 
Mrs. Castro is loved by all that meet her, her energy her enthusiasm her commitment her communication and organization is what our children and this school needs. We all feel good knowing how safe our children are when she’s on campus and that has not changed. Please help us get our fierce leader back by signing this petition and letting the school board know that our views of her have remained the same.
