Dear caring supporter,
Thanks to your efforts, the spokesperson of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs Donato Colonna has confirmed that they are reviewing our urgent request to grant humanitarian visas to 35 Afghan women human rights defenders trapped in Pakistan.
This is a step forward—but we still don’t have a clear answer, and time is running out.
📢 What’s happening now?
The situation for these women is getting worse.
- Police in Pakistan are actively arresting Afghan refugees and deporting them.
- Even young children are being taken and sent back alone.
- Many of these women are in hiding, unable to leave their homes out of fear.
They Need Immediate Financial Support
While we continue pushing governments to act, we now have a concrete way to help these women find safety.
Food for Thought Afghanistan is organizing a fundraising campaign to evacuate vulnerable Afghan rights activists from Islamabad to Brazil. The Brazilian government has recently released new humanitarian visas for Afghan refugees, providing a pathway to safety—but these women urgently need financial support to make the journey.
Many of them fled Afghanistan after being targeted by the Taliban. Most have spent time in custody, suffered torture and abuse, and are still dealing with serious physical and emotional trauma. Now, they face a March 31 deadline to leave Pakistan or be deported back to almost certain death.
We are raising funds to cover the costs of evacuating 35-50 families from Islamabad to Brazil. This is not just about saving lives—this is about defending the future of Afghan democracy. These women stood up for human rights and paid the price. If the Taliban succeeds in silencing them, it will send a message that no one who resists will be saved.

Together, we can ensure they reach safety. Every contribution helps cover flights, visa fees, and resettlement costs to bring these women and their families to safety.
