Petition Against Halfway House by Schools, Daycare, and Senior Citizen Center in Brooklyn

The Issue

Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn is a home to numerous schools, daycare centers and senior citizen homes. There are many children as well as families who take pride in the neighborhood. A halfway house would jeopardize the safety that is currently felt by the residents of this town. This neighborhood has worked hard to build itself into a safe, residential area for families to grow and prosper. A halfway house would threaten the neighborhood from flourishing.

Thank you so much for voicing your opposition to the proposed use of 2261 Bragg Street as a site a Federal Halfway House. I agree with you. While the property is an eyesore and in dire need of renovation and occupancy, our quiet community is not an appropriate place to assist these previously incarcerated individuals while they make the transition from prison. I have started an online petition on my Assembly homepage, which will be forwarded directly to the Federal Bureau of Prisons to show our community's strong opposition.
