Petition updatePremier: Please Save Bushland in Shenton Park, WALandCorp to Use Loophole in the System

The fight to save ‘Lemnos St Bush’ is not over.
It's up to WAPC now.
LandCorp has now abandoned its application for a clearing permit, to which 1001 public submissions were opposed. Instead, LandCorp is seeking a subdivision approval through a well-known and well used loophole in the system enabling the bushland to be cleared under an exemption in the Environmental Protection (EP) Act!
And what is their reason? To reduce bushfire risk.
LandCorp has deliberately ignored advice from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) stating “other means of reducing fire risk should be explored” {other than clearing}.
LandCorp’s application for subdivision approval will go before the Statutory Planning Committee this Tuesday morning 10th April.
Our key supporters will appear before the Committee to plead the case to save 'Lemnos St Bush.'
Please join us in the CBD outside the Department of Planning, before we head into the meeting.
Let's show Perth and the Chairman of the WAPC (WA Planning Commission) that we want better planning processes and outcomes. And that this banksia woodland is worth saving!
You are welcome to bring along signs.
There are options. There can be a win-win situation!
There is plenty of space to develop and reach housing density targets, with safeguards in place, without clearing any of the bushland.
Hope to see you Tuesday 8:30 am in the CBD, Murray Street Mall near William St.!
