Stop Heathrow from making such drastic changes to employees contracts.
The Issue
I’m currently a Heathrow security Officer who has been on furlough since the end of April I chose to go on furlough to help save the company money as they said this would save contracts/jobs. Officers have still been working throughout this Covid 19 pandemic and putting their lives and families lives at risk. Heathrow are now proposing up to 37% pay cuts, removal of allowances, removal of paid breaks, the closure of the final salary pension scheme, cutting some members pay down to the London living wage, removing protections in the job security policy, stopping pay for the first 3 days of sickness and they don’t want to apply the next 4% of the pay deal in 2021.
They also have held talks with the union about a buy down on people’s contracts, they want to buy out contracts in most cases for less than 3 months pay.
I’ve already had my story in my local paper and had an interview yesterday with heart radio. Feel like the news needs to be more national and you can help me achieve this.
I do have the unions letter that was sent out to colleagues available and also a few other pieces of information.
I also have seen the proposed pay reductions that different contracts will be imposed. Some of the people on older contracts who have been there years are set to lose over 7 grand a year in pay.
It’s utterly disgusting what they’re proposing. People need to know the information!!
They’ve also stated if the union don’t accept terms and conditions that they will fire and rehire everyone on poorer paid contracts.
some people who are on older contracts could lose up to £12,000 a year in salary.
We want Heathrow to change their stance on the drastic cuts they’re proposing and we want the government to step in and say to Heathrow what they are proposing with getting rid of staff and rehiring them on poorer conditions is legally and morally wrong!!
