Change the Name of Evans Park to Casey's Castle Park

Change the Name of Evans Park to Casey's Castle Park
The Issue
On Christmas Eve in 1998 Casey Marie Sneed, an 8 year old resident of Spring Hill, was killed in a tragic accident at her home. To honor her memory the local community came together in the spring of 1999 and built Casey's Castle, the first playground to be built on Maury Lane in Spring Hill. In the past 13 years, the park has changed. The original wooden playground equipment was replaced with modern aluminum equipment and all the remains of the original park is a wooden castle called "Casey's Castle."
Unfortunately more than just the equipment at the park has changed. With the new playground equipment came a new sign...a sign that welcomes visitors to Evan Park. Noel Evans was a principal in the Spring Hill community for nearly 30 years. During his 30 year tenure he gained the reputation as a great man, teacher and principal. Sexual harassment accusations by multiple teachers, however, ended his career. In 1997 Noel Evans shot his wife, killing her, and then turned the gun on himself.
Spring Hill is not the town it was in 1997 and much of this history is unknown to newer residents. While the 30 years of service given by Noel Evans is appreciated, the unanswered accusations later in his career and a murder-suicide hardly make him someone who should be honored.
As a citizen of Spring Hill or the surrounding area, I ask that the park's name be changed to Casey's Castle Park to honor the little girl for which it was built.
My Deepest Condolences go out to the Evans Family, for the loss of their mother and father.
