Help save these kids beloved PETS, don't let them take their PETS away!
The Issue
Two little boys who raised and cared for their pets are now being forced to get rid of them because of an ordinance created over 50 years ago. They raised their pets since they were a day old. These boys gave them love, cared for them, cleaned up after them. Helped teach others about their pets and showed others how to be kind towards animals. These pets are not considered pets in the eyes of the local government. These two boys and their family are being forced to get rid of their little feathered family members because of an ordinance that doesn't recognize anything other than cat and dog as a pet. This needs to change. Other small animals, rabbits/bunnies, mice, chickens, ducks, goats, mini pigs, pheasants, doves, pigeons etc. Are pets to someone and should not be dictated by a municipality on weather or not they are considered a pet. They are not being used for monitary gain or consumption, they are a pet. Losing an animal that you have put your time and love into is heartbreaking. Losing a pet to death is hard enough, but losing a pet to an undefined, unjust, outdated law is needless.
The zoning ordinances in Heath Ohio needs to be updated. Allowing for better clarification of what is considered a farm animal and what is considered a pet. Something similar to the section 901.60 HB No.124
Allowing for small animals, in low quantity, to be cared for within residential zoned districts.
