Homeowners of Heartland Crossing, Camby IN Petition to Revise Covenants for Storage Sheds
The Issue
Heartland Crossing Homeowners Petition to ask for a revision to the covenants to allow storage sheds on properties within each division, addition, or sub-addition located within the Heartland Crossing Community. We would like the developers to consider changing the covenants to be revise the section on Temporary Structure which do not allow Mini-barns or outside Storage Structures on our properties. We would recommend limiting the Mini-barns/Storage Structures in size, color, and type of structure allowed and a submission of an Architectural Change Form would be required prior to construction. The Architectural Change Form should be changed or a separate section should be added indicating size, color, material, desired location and type of structure. None of these structures should be on easements or placed in common areas as defined by the HOA. Sheds sizes should be no taller than 10’ (10 feet) and no wider than 12’ (12 feet) inside diameter. All materials should be of either wood with shingles or of a vinyl/resin type material (no metal sheds). The color should be of neutral color (cedar, stained, or painted) as to match the color of the home or be of standard color (tan & brown) of the vinyl/resin material. Sheds should also be maintained so as they do not become eyesores and they must be only located within the confines of the properties back yard and should not impede the neighboring yards or properties. While these are just recommendations the HOA would have final approval via the Architectural Change process. By allowing these changes it would allow residents additional storage abilities and enabling residents to park inside of the garages as they are intended. This should also reduce the number of vehicles parked on streets, and blocking sidewalks used by pedestrians which should free up security to deal with speeding and other safety concerns within the community.
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge the developers, Heartland Crossing HOA, and Heartland Crossing Foundation to act now to revise the current covenants to allow Mini-barns or Outside Storage Sheds on properties within each of Heartland Crossing Additions and Sub-additions. This would allow for Mini-barns or Storage Sheds in all three counties (Hendricks, Marion, and Morgan) which fall within the covenants of the Heartland Crossing HOA and Heartland Crossing Foundation.
