Stop Purchasing Eggs from Battery Cage Farms

The Issue

With each cage the size of a filing cabinet drawer, packed with multiple birds, battery cage farms are hell on earth for the innocent hens that lay eggs for Healthcare Services Group, Inc. This outdated agricultural practice is so cruel that it is already illegal in several states in the US and the entire European Union.

HCSG is one of the top hospitality companies in the United States, providing food and other services for several location throughout the states. Unlike nearly all of it's competitors, HCSG remains committed to sourcing eggs from battery cage egg farms—cruel factory farms where hens are trapped in cages barely larger than their bodies. In addition to the inherent cruelty of the farms, eggs from caged hens come with a significantly higher risk of carrying harmful bacteria (such as Salmonella) than those from cage-free operations. Why are HCSG, a company who contract exclusively in the healthcare industry, putting patients at risk by serving eggs from caged hens in healthcare facilities?

In the last few months we have seen over 40 food service providers commit to ending their support of this archaic practice, including the largest, Aramark, Sodexo, and Compass Group. Why is it that HCSG refuses to address the issue?

Please, sign our petition and let HCSG and their clients know that people like you do not want to be supporting this kind of extreme animal cruelty with their dining dollars. It's time for HCSG to do the right thing and join its competitors in the 21st century by pledging to end its support of farms that still use outdated battery cage systems and putting a firm timeline in place to make this happen.
