Mar 5, 2016 — http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3476868/A-E-doctor-ranted-Twitter-neurotic-patients-crippling-NHS-bulls-call-outs-job-people-agree-him.html I'm unsure which planet this doctors defence team was on. The biggest mistake made was to essentially apologise for these Tweets. This gave the GMC ammunition to carry out their sanction. This would not have been possible had the prosecution been forced to prove their case. The prosecution didn't have a case under the case law on freedom of expression and the GMCs own directives in the past. I'm unsure why doctors do this. Apologise and back down. I've never apologised or backed down to the GMC. It's probably why the GMC could never move to hearing on my issues on free speech. This case has a judgment that is drafted badly and has no proper rationale. It is clear the panel just hopes that no one notices their bad judgments. Anyway, this disastrous precedent allowed by the medical profession who put up no protest for this doctor will be their own ruin. Now, the GMC has the license to lift any junior doctor off Twitter or any social media and prosecute them for their opinion. The tragic issue here is this, I spent a decade preventing this kind of silliness from affecting doctors by my robust defences on free speech and this case just shoots down all the work done. I guess in time, the medical profession will realise that their own inaction will be the cause of their own downfall. A doctor is not allowed the same rights in freedom of expression as the public. That is the worst precedent ever. It is a silencer of all medical critics which becomes a huge threat to patient safety. The totalitarian regime has done well. It's interesting that this case comes during an important period in junior doctor strikes. No doubt the case is of advantage to the motives of Jeremy Hunt.
