There was an adviser to the Freedom to Speak Up Review by the government's " safe pair of hands" Rob Francis QC.
Firstly, everyone should scroll down to the background section here and make a note of the advisers. http://www.wired-gov.net/wg/news.nsf/articles/Sir+Robert+Francis+publishes+his+report+on+whistleblowing+in+the+NHS+11022015132500?open
After that, they should read a lovely page from Freemasonry Today. I love that photograph. I love that internet journal. Who wouldn't.
If you search through Freemasonry Today, you will find a lot of material about freemasons supporting surgical research. Why isn't the NHS funding research and can we say that the research funded by masonic lodges is independent?

No doubt its a long tradition. What bothers me is this, why isn't this tradition made public and stated in every tabloid. Everyone would like to know how much freemasonry funds end up in medical research etc.
While Prof Steve Bolsin stood his ground and tried to get some questioning on freemasonry in the Bristol Inquiry, the GMC appeared to go one step further here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/1256901.stm . While the papers were bleating about this during the Bristol Inquiry, much of its reference has disappeared. One has to hunt down a tatty copy on the net of the Bristol Inquiry to read about some suspicions the Bristol Inquiry raised on this aspect.
While there is nothing wrong with grown men belonging to a club, it does make a bit of a mockery of the word "independence", if one does not declare an interest. I think its unfair to those who may wish to make informed choices in life. Nevertheless, the medical fraternity have always been a little coy about this despite gloating about transparency everywhere.
For those interested, here is my collection of links and evidence between freemasonry and medicine. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/rita-pal/freemasonry-and-medicine_b_1017439.html
Personally, I believe medicine should be free of all kinds of influences but that is a radical if not unpopular idea. The Department of Health has a certain position on Christianity and other religions. Why doesn't the same apply to freemasonry?
The above is really said for the public. I think they should have access to all kinds of information in relation to how the medical fraternity functions. One may even shake ones head and ignore all the evidence above but at some point one has to sit down and analyse the evidence in Freemasonry in Public Life. http://www.parliament.the-stationery-office.co.uk/pa/cm199899/cmselect/cmhaff/467/46703.htm mostly related to the police but highly relevant.
It would be interesting to discover, what freemasons think of renegade whistleblowers destablising the medical establishment. It may also be interesting if they paid for some research that should be asking the question " How many whistleblowers have they discredited by using the mental health label". Now that would be controversial. All in the name of transparency by the way.
Hope members of the public find the above an interesting read.
