M who is a patient at the Toronto Western Hospital, unit: 8A room:116 bed:1, was being prepped for an endoscopy this morning. Unfortunately, and inexplicably, the hospital has yet again postponed her endoscopy (this is the 3rd time they’ve done this) after having her fast in preparation. She's tentatively scheduled for the endoscopy tomorrow, but we're worried that they'll, again, delay the much-needed test and continue to speculate about discharging M and having her return for the endoscopy at an even later date despite her condition worsening dramatically over the last few weeks.

M is in a very poor state: she is severely anemic and her hemoglobin has dropped to abnormally low levels because of internal bleeding, she fainted a couple of times before her admission to the hospital, her oxygen levels dropped below 40 at one point, she can’t walk properly, and she's lost bowel control and has to wear diapers. M also has been in and out of the ER since the 6th of December because they would discharge her after a slight improvement only for her to return in a worse state of health. She was misdiagnosed with panic attacks a year ago at the General Hospital of Toronto and was told to take Tylenol to manage the terrible pain she was enduring. This pain has lasted for a year and has culminated into her current condition.

We demand that you perform the endoscopy as ordered by Dr. Laura Targownik who took charge of her case yesterday. P.S: Dr. Targownik is an excellent doctor who saw the urgency of M's condition.

We're worried that Miral might be experiencing discrimination in her treatment because she’s an LGBTQ refugee and we're hoping that Dr. Targownik and others can help advocate for proper care on her behalf.
