Dear C4UK supporters

There is good news and bad news. First, the good news. The only ICU in the UK using vitamin C intravenously (2 grams) has reported a mortality rate reduction, compared to others, of 21%. This equates to saving one in five more lives. To quote the report "The addition of an antioxidant in the form of ascorbic acid, for all patients admitted to hospital, could also have contributed to lower mortality in our case series. Although not shown to improve outcome in small sepsis [26] and ARDS [27] studies, there is growing interest in the use of ascorbic acid in sepsis [28]. Ascorbic acid has been shown to shorten the duration of the common cold and reduce hospital stay in influenza-A associated pneumonia. [29] In vitro studies have demonstrated that ascorbic acid enhances the proliferation, differentiation and function of lymphocytes, and stimulates interferon release,[30] which could enhance viral clearance."

The author, Dr Marcela Vizcachipi, head of Chelsea & Westminster ICU, is now gearing up for a study including vitamin C. Also, another ICU, The Royal Surrey in Guildford, is signed up to do a study on intravenous vitamin C but, like the many ICUs, has no patients currently.

I am working with journalists at the Guardian and Mail to hopefully get this information out into the public domain. Should something get published I'll let you know so you can send this far and wide. That's the good news.

The bad news is that our campaign film 'How Vitamin C Won the Cold War' has been banned on youtube. Every single statement within it is an unquestionable and provable fact. We have, however, reposted an updated version of the film here:

I don't know how long this will stay up so please send this link to everyone you know, asking them to send to everyone they know. Since it refers to the combined use of vitamin C with steroids it is very topical.
