Make sure that the Elementary and Secondary Education Act includes funds focused on effective professional learning for teachers and school leaders.
The Issue
The U.S. Congress is currently working to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, known as the No Child Left Behind Act. We need your help to make sure the law includes funds focused solely on effective professional learning for teachers and school leaders.
Effective professional learning for educators is the best way that we can ensure great teaching for all students, no matter which teacher they have or their geographic or socioeconomic circumstance.
Quality teaching occurs when teachers and principals engage in collaborative, rigorous, job-embedded professional learning focused on the learning needs of students in their classrooms and schools as a part of their workday. Costs for these activities are a significant portion of resource investments in professional learning.
Add your signature to our petition to make sure ESEA provides focused funding and flexible guidance to support effective professional learning for all educators. Help give educators the resources they need to learn and work together to deepen content knowledge, plan instruction, examine student work, address different student learning needs, clarify student learning outcomes, and use the results of classroom assessments to modify instruction.
Please say “yes” to supporting our educators with the funding, guidance, and support they need for effective professional learning.
