The decision to suspend sports until January 1, 2021 is outrageous and problematic. Multi-sport athletes face major dilemmas. Anyone that participates in many activities in general will likely face issues.

As the vast majority of us are healthy teenagers, we are aware of the low risk Covid-19 poses towards us. We have been aware of this, and most have lived out their summers in a way that reflects this: seeing friends, working a job, going down the shore, etc.

Many of the fall athletes have competed in a club sporting event over the summer season. I’ve heard numerous personal testimonials about zero issues during their summer season from the members of these teams.

There is a mental/physical health risk for teenage boys and girls to miss out on their sports seasons. Many students go to school all day just to step out onto the playing field. Sports are necessary for teenagers’ health and social wellbeing.
