He Popped Her Eye From its Socket. Pursue Full Felony Charges for Cricket the Cat’s Abuse.
The Issue
Cricket is a cat from Plainfield, Illinois, who prosecutors say survived two violent attacks in less than a year. The man accused of hurting her now faces two felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow should pursue those charges in full, not reduce them or drop them in a plea deal.
According to court records, Cricket’s owner was away at work when both attacks happened. Her partner, Axel Molina-Hernandez, had been left to look after the animals. In December 2025, he allegedly hit Cricket several times and threw her against a wall. She blacked out, had a seizure and suffered a broken rib.
Prosecutors say he later went to anger management classes and was given another chance. Then, on Oct. 15, 2026, he is accused of choking Cricket until she passed out and went into shock. Court records describe her eye coming out of its socket, fluid in her lungs and her heart pushed up off her breastbone.
On Oct. 18, a judge released him before trial with home monitoring, a restraining order and a rule that no animals can live where he is now staying. Those conditions are a start. Real accountability depends on what happens next in court.
Illinois treats aggravated animal cruelty as a felony for a reason. When an animal is allegedly hurt a second time, even after a warning, the case deserves the full weight of the law. Cricket can’t speak for herself. The public can.
Sign the petition to tell State’s Attorney Glasgow that Cricket’s case deserves full prosecution as it moves forward in court.
