Hunterdon Humane Animal Shelter Update and A Plea For Foster Help

The Hunterdon Humane Animal Shelter remains closed since June 1, 2016.  In accordance with New Jersey state law, the Alexandria shelter must pay municipal and county taxes because it is not fulfilling its mission of providing an animal shelter. As a result, the shelter lost its property tax exemption.   In our opinion, this law is fair to all the taxpayers in Hunterdon County and Alexandria Township. You can view the shelter’s tax payments by going to the Alexandria Township website: https://webportal.municipal-software.com/lookup/alex   The Block number is 14 and the Lot is 8.

The critical need to help animals in our community remains. Local rescues are doing all they can to help homeless and defenseless animals in Hunterdon and surrounding counties.  Our committee recognizes that these organizations cannot do it alone. We are calling on animal lovers to volunteer to foster an animal for rescues.  The fosters will receive resources and support from the rescue they help.  Please fill out the foster parent application form below if you are interested in helping.  Thank You!
