The name of our organization is the Hunterdon County Animal Shelter Committee (HCASC).  We exist to benefit animals who are or will be sheltered at 576 Stamets Rd in Alexandria. This animal shelter is known as the Hunterdon Humane Animal Shelter (HHAS) but is also called the SPCA.  Encouraged by your continually growing support, HCASC was formed to be, not only a voice for the animals, but an organization encouraging community support and providing expertise in the best interests of the shelter animals. 

Our mission is to assure that HHAS is completely compliant with state and county laws and regulations and that its board maintains a policy of transparency and accountability to the public. We pledge to remain committed, organized, and energized to insure the HHAS board of directors provides state of the art best practices for animal care, hire extremely qualified animal care givers, provide prompt veterinary care for all animals, provide socialization programs for the animals, encourage volunteer participation, establish foster programs, work with animal rescues, establish animal behavior programs, and proactively advertise the shelter and the animals  

We developed a web site to keep you, the public, informed about the shelter activities, the shelter board’s decisions, and Hunterdon County officials’ response to your demands. We will also continue to send updates to you through this Change.Org petition. You, the signers of this petition, are informing Hunterdon County officials this is a very important issue to the public. The organizers of this petition reached out to the former Freeholder Director in September to ask for his help in facilitating your vision for the shelter. We were ignored and dismissed after one meeting and our calls and emails were not returned.  We will reach out again to the new Freeholder Director and report back to you on how we are received.
