New building for Hawkins County TN Humane Society

The Issue

As you all know the county has received a substantial amount of money due to the pandemic. We are asking the Ad Hoc committee and the commissioners for a portion of these funds to build a new updated, efficient building to provide more space for the animals of Hawkins County. This is something that has been needed for many years. We are always at or above capacity and each day we receive MANY calls on animals running at large, abandoned, injured, and surrenders. It is ongoing, this has by far been the most overwhelming year that we have seen, along with other shelters, rescues and fosters at capacity. Many shelters are needing to euthanize for space. We pledge to remain a NO KILL shelter. Last year we took in 434 Dogs, 295 cats from the public along with 39 dogs and 100 cats from Animal Control. Up to October of this year we have already taken in 830 dogs and cats. Our current building is old and outdated, but we do the best we can with what we have. With more space we can take in more animals and have adequate isolation, ventilation, and of course more space. We need to make this happen. So with that said we need your voices.
Thank you!! From the Hawkins County Humane Society Board
