We, the parents, grandparents, friends, and students of Lahainaluna High School petition the Maui School District Superintendent, Hawaii Schools Superintendent and School Board to remove Ms. Jeri Dean from her position as TA Principal/Full-time Principal of Lahainaluna High School, effective immediately.

Principal Dean has abused her power of authority as Principal over her students. Her lack of proper communication with the parents as well as the students is unprofessional and we feel she is unqualified to hold the position of Principal. She has allowed a group of students to go unpunished for creating a video that is vulgar and distasteful yet has punished a student who made a post on his personal Instagram of his opinion of her. She has created a blatant double standard in her disciplinary actions and as such has violated the Code of Ethics as defined in the MCEE.

We ask that you investigate the following and find that Ms. Jeri Dean is indeed not qualified to be the TA Principal/Full-time Principal of Lahainaluna High School and that she be removed effective immediately.

-violated 1st ammendment rights

-excessive abuse of power

-held a meeting with Student Council in private

-held a meeting with a student without his parents present

-created a double standard

-lack of communication

- violated the MCEE

-violated the agreement by posting on social media
