Save The Retailery, Romford

David Taylor started this petition to Havering Council (The Mayor)

Problem
Havering Council have declined The Retailery's application for ‘Discretionary Rates Relief’ and as a small not-for-profit organisation this leaves them unable to keep the doors open.

The Retailery is one of Romford's best nights out and one of the most exciting places to eat. It's mixture of independent traders, local talent and diverse customers set it apart from the rest of the town.

From their famous Rum and Reggae nights to their Camp Karaoke, nowhere in Romford is quite like the Retailery. That's before you take into account the excellent office space they run, for small businesses in Romford.

In fact, this place is so good that it won Best After Work Venue at the Recent Romford Nightlife Awards.

Solution
Havering Council could recognise the contribution of independent traders and not-for-profits, like The Retailery, and give Discretionary Rates Relief.

Romford High Street feels emptier by the day, with some huge lots left vacant.

Personal story
The Retailery is one of the best places to eat and socialise in Romford. The town's food scene mostly consists of chain pubs or a friendly 'greasy spoon'. Being able to grab a great, independently made pizza or curry keeps me eating in Romford.
