The Issue

As a dedicated fan of Olivia Rodrigo, I am deeply troubled by the issues surrounding songwriting credits in the music industry, particularly involving Olivia and Taylor Swift. Recently, fans pressured Olivia to credit Taylor Swift and Jack Antanoff after asserting that her song "Deja vu" resembled Taylor's "Cruel Summer." In a fair application of the same principles, it has come to our attention that in 2024, Taylor Swift's song "imgonnagethimback" appears to have elements that closely mimic Olivia's style and accusatory lyrics in her song get him back

Despite this, Swift has not credited Olivia or her producer Dan Nigro for their creative inputs. It is crucial to maintain fairness and uphold the integrity of artists' rights. They deserve recognition for their work, and any slights against these rights should be correctly pointed out and rectified. It's clear that music is an open space for inspiration and influence, but blatant imitation should not be tolerated without due credit given.

This disparity not only violates professional courtesy but also highlights the dominance of established artists over newcomers in the industry. We call upon Taylor Swift to acknowledge Olivia’s contributions and accord her the credit she deserves for "iamgonnagetyouback." Kindly lend your voice to this cause and sign this petition to stand up for Olivia Rodrigo's rights as a songwriter and for every artist's work in the music industry.

I have been a fan of Olivia since 2019 Olivia always puts time and effort into her songs just like Taylor I know that if someone blatantly copied one of Taylor's songs that the outrage would be more then ever I believed that deja vu never sounded like cruel summer I am heartbroken that Bolivia has been deprived of the credit and royalty off this song since it is apart of the toured poets department it was streamed thousands maybe even millions of time with Olivia never getting a dime write letters to Taylor and Republic Records email and snapchat and social media we need to make sure that Olivia Gets the money and credit that are rightfully hers
