Have Disney retry the Mort movie

The Issue

A quote taken directly the Disney Wiki:

“Mort was a proposed animated film would have been based on Terry Pratchett's Discworld novel of the same name. It would have been directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, the directors of the 2009 film The Princess and the Frog.”

-And another:

“..Musker and Clements ended up producing another animated film titled Moana (released in 2016) instead..”

End Quote.

I, as many other people are, am a big fan of Terry Pratchett and his Discworld series as well as Disney movies and media. Not too long ago I found out that at one point a movie adaptation was planned for one of his books, Mort, and was off-put to find that it had been cancelled. I realize that while there was difficulty in the acquisition  of the rights to the book as well as other things added to its cancellation, it’s certainly not beyond the scope of what Disney is capable of now.

We believe that a movie adaptation of Mort would be a wonderful opportunity to introduce a wider audience to the rich and imaginative world of Discworld, and to honor the legacy of Terry Pratchett. The cancellation of the project was a missed opportunity, and we hope that Disney will reconsider and invest in bringing Mort to the big screen.

We call on Disney to listen to the voices of fans and to work towards creating a Mort movie that is faithful to the spirit of the book, and that honors the memory of Terry Pratchett. We believe that such a movie would be both a commercial success and a way to unite both franchises for possible future adaptations, and we look forward to seeing it come to fruition.

Please sign this petition to show your support for a possible Mort movie, and to let Disney know that there is a demand for this project. Together, we can make this dream a reality!
