Another very busy couple of days! Yesterday, Zack was at Derian House hospice for some day care and while there he received confirmation from the Fundraising Team that his campaign would be featured in the next edition of 'Danni's Diary' magazine. Many of the staff team at Derian have known Zack for many years and are very supportive of his campaign and delighted by how well Zack is doing. Zack also received an email from the producers of 'Inside Out North West' who are keen to hear more of his story with a view to including a feature in their new series in the new year, about living with disabilities. We also had a positive response from Scope, who have agreed to feature and promote Zack's campaign on their Facebook and Twitter pages which is great. Back at home last night it was a late one as we were busy preparing answers on Zack's communication tablet and putting together a slide show of photos to present to two groups of students at Nelson & Colne College today. A late night was followed by an early morning as we got ready and set off for the college presentation. One of the lecturers there is Zack's good friend and (fairy!) god mother Amanda, and she had invited Zack in to talk to about 30 students on their Health and Social Care course. They had prepared questions asking about what was it like to live with Cerebral Palsy, what hobbies and interests Zack has, how the care system has worked for or failed people like Zack, how his campaign is progressing and more. Zack is never fazed by an audience and he was the ultimate 'professional', answering all their questions superbly and doing so with such honesty and humour. He ended the hour long session by giving out business cards and stickers promoting his campaign and had a few photos with the group. Amanda was delighted with the visit and told the students that they weren't allowed out until they signed his petition! (Haha! They were blown away by Zack's presentation and of course none of them were actually forced to sign up!) She said that Zack was by far the best guest speaker they had ever had in to speak to their group. After reflecting on such a positive experience this evening, Zack now has ideas of recording his talk on video to post on YouTube so that it reaches a wider audience, and I'm sure that as a result of today's success he will be invited in to other colleges and groups to give similar talks. It was a pleasure to accompany him today and he was such a great ambassador for the many 1000s of disabled people in the UK in the way he presented his story. If you know of anyone who works in a school or college, or if you would like Zack to come and speak to a group of your colleagues, friends or at a organisation or club meeting, please do get in touch with us at zackschangecampaign@gmail.com as the more we can do to spread the message, the better! Lots more little jobs to tie up tomorrow and plenty of emails to reply to from new supporters this week. Thanks again for all your messages of support. It's a huge encouragement to us at Campaign HQ! Oh, and did you notice, we topped 45,000 signatures last night :) Zack and Team
