Hate Speech & Free Speech are NOT Synonymous!

Hate Speech & Free Speech are NOT Synonymous!
The Issue
This petition stems from a personal and deeply unsettling incident that occurred at Jonas E. Salk Middle School in Levittown, NY.
A female Jewish student received a text message from a friend, who had
overheard an alarming conversation. Another student was being targeted because of her Jewish faith, referred to derogatorily as a "stupid Jew
bitch." This incident has left both the victim and the witness deeply upset and remains unresolved for several months as administration is operating with bias.
Antisemitism is not just an issue for those directly affected; it is a societal problem that we must all address. It's important to note that such incidents
are not isolated; according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), antisemitic incidents in U.S schools have increased by 86% since 2016.
Education plays a crucial role in combating hate speech and promoting understanding among diverse groups of students. Therefore, we call on the school district of Levittown to implement
comprehensive educational programs about antisemitism, its history, and why it's harmful.
By signing this petition, you're urging our
educational institutions to take immediate action against hate speech, biased staff members, and foster an environment where every student feels safe and respected regardless of their religious beliefs. Stand with us against antisemitism today!
