I am repeatedly asked by friends who live in the EU, what is going to happen on BREXIT. Of course, I dont know but does not logic mean something in this puzzling world we now live in? Logic will win out but a little help from the people's voices through petitions such as this one, help a little.
Few can believe that the UK elected a buffoon and liar as a Prime Minister..but didnt the USA do that too and so is OK? Other countries have done the same but didnt the UK and USA along with many in the EU bring about peace for 70 years? Does that count for something?
The UK has been unlucky with its leaders starting with David Cameron who launched the 2016 failed referendum, then Theresa May who sounded so clear with a message that no-one could understand. She wasnt helped by the obfuscation of Jeremy Corbyn..what on earth does he want? Yes a good life for the working class, yes a better distribution of income and wealth but why destroy UK to do so?
Jeremy Corbyn, like so many commentators, never discuss the UK service economy..they champion fishing at a mere 0.2% of GDP...then forget that 70% of UK GDP are services and few if any discuss that -except watch those so-called filthy capitalists move to Dublin, Milan, Paris and Frankfurt!
Now we have Boris to oversee a BREXIT farce...well he did get 90,000 Tory Party votes so I guess some people think they will do well out of BREXIT - yes there are always winners and losers old boy.
In these notes I have been arguing for nearly two years for a free vote in the House of Commons on Leave or Remain - sorry forget a deal just ask the Swiss how much they like their deal with the EU who are about to penalise Swiss finance and there is nothing the Swiss can do about it. If you want the EU not to meddle in UK affairs then vote Remain since then the UK has a voice (regrettably because of the past two years a voice but much less respect than before..but that WILL come back). Voting Leave will mean decades of EU negotiations and a continuing run on the pound.
So a free vote of all MPs in the House of Commons after debate but right now and before Oct 31st of course. THAT is democracy and if the result is Leave so be it. Even I will buy that catastrophe as an example of democracy at work. But dont worry MPs are not frightened morons..they are generally articulate, caring, responsible and of course democratic. They will vote to Remain and save our beloved country.
