Hasbro: Please make new Lightning Collection figures of MMPR Red Ranger and King Sphinx
The Issue
After buying the rights to "Power Rangers" from Saban Brands, Hasbro has made an ongoing toyline called "Power Rangers: Lightning Collection" that has four fan-favorite characters every wave. However, the line has been plagued from the beginning by quality control problems, from stiff joints and breakable necks to missing and/or inaccurate paint applications.
Their figure for the original Mighty Morphin Red Ranger from the "Lightning Collection" toyline was met with mixed to negative reactions from fans due to the sculpt and missing paint on the helmet, the bad likeness of actor Austin St. John for the Jason Lee Scott alternate civilian head and the different shades of red on the figure's body (though the helmet has since been fixed for the Lightning Collection Metallic Red Ranger figure). One of the recent figures based on monsters from the "Power Rangers" TV series, King Sphinx, has also been met with equal negative reactions due to his appearance, such as missing paint, looking inaccurate to the show in terms of the facial sculpt and paint, and the monster figures being far too tall compared to the Ranger figures and other Lightning Collection figures.
We, the fans, would like to see all-new, improved figures for Mighty Morphin Red Ranger and King Sphinx to make them equal in height with the other six-inch-tall Lightning Collection figures, all-new sculpts of the Jason civilian head and to include the new/properly painted Red Ranger helmet sculpt, and to fix the various problems with King Sphinx by completely remaking the toy. For the Red Ranger figure, perhaps new accessories, such as including the Blade Blaster in blade mode or the bag of Power Crystals that Red Ranger retrieves in the episode, could be included for the new figure's release. Whether they are made as new sold-separately figures or paired together to make a new "Lightning Collection" two-pack, we, the fans, would like to see new, improved figures for King Sphinx and the Mighty Morphin Red Ranger made as soon as possible, please.
