Students and alumni of hart high school, 

with the current outcry against racism and call of change in the United States it’s time for hart high to be a part of the Greater, nationwide solution rather than the problem. 

Many offensive and racially insensitive mascots and institutions have been renamed out of respect and understanding of the oppression that many Americans of different ethnic backgrounds suffer on a daily basis. Hart High school should be no different. 
For years hart high faculty have excused the blatant insensitivity of the Schools name and Mascot and we as a community need to make a change. 

William S. Hart may have been a well renowned actor but he held racist attitudes and many of his films puported negative stereotypes of African Americans, Hispanic Americans and Native Americans. We should not forget who William S. Hart was but we must not celebrate or condone his actions. 

The Mascot of the Indian is self explanatory and is unapologetically racist and biased against native Americans. 

My proposal is one that every American can get behind. Family Guy is enjoyed by all Americans regardless of race color or creed. Peter Griffin has brought laughs to every American and is an excellent symbol for our modern society. 
So I Am asking Principal Jason D’autremont to do the right thing and change Harts name to Peter Griffin High School, the mascot to Peter Griffin, The school song to “Bird Is the word” by the Trashmen and the school motto to “roadhouse”
