Harsher punishments for animal cruelty

Harsher punishments for animal cruelty
Why this petition matters
Fellow humans, animals are our friends, and they simply have different ways of doing things and we can't treat them abusively just because they are different. In the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act in 1960, “animal” is defined as any living creature other than human. While this is true, this doesn't mean they don't feel like we do.
We want to stop the abuse of animals. There are already laws, but the fines for breaking these laws are very low. For example, treating animals cruelly is punishable with a fine of Rs. 10 which may extend to Rs. 50 on first conviction. While experimentation on animals is punishable with a fine up to Rs. 200, this punishment is very low in today's time, where a cup of coffee can cost Rs. 50.
We urge the government to have stricter laws and larger fines and penalties so that more people realise the importance of animals. Kindly support and help us in bringing a change in the society by making stricter punishments and bigger fines for animal cruelty. Let's make this world a safer place for animals and humans alike.
