As some of you may know in the last few years there has been a huge case of animal abuse in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. There were numerous animals found to be in very poor conditions as well as many found dead and frozen in a freezer. The punishment given to the guilty for this was only a 5 year pet ban and a $1000 fine. The other person involved is still awaiting charges. To many this isn’t enough. They found an upwards of 45+ dead animals that have suffered head trauma, phenomena, malnutrition and so on. The animals were living in a house that wasn’t even suitable for a human to live in. To often we here of cases like this and yet they are basically given a slap on the wrist and sent home to commit the acts again. Animals did not ask for this nor do they deserve this type of abuse. Animals are like your family and should be treated as such. This petition is to get the Saskatchewan Government to change the laws on animal abuse within our province. We are asking for heftier fines, jail time and life time bans from owning animals. We request the government review the cases in which these accused basically walked off with a slap on the wrist and issue them harsher punishments. With which in this case the persons involved should have a life ban from owning and jail time served. Please sign this petition and spread the word so we can get something done about this. Hopefully by the end of this we can present it to our MLA’s and can make a change. And if not we will keep pressing forward till a change is made!
