We have recently been informed that residents of Warren Avenue have laid claim to the pathway leading from the bottom of Warren Avenue to Redmayne Grove in Knottingley claiming to have maintained this area for many years which is factually incorrect. The plan if they are successful is to extend their gardens into the pathway closing the route to residents of Redmayne Grove/Eddistone Rise and surrounding streets.
As I am sure you are aware, the route is primarily used by the elderly/disabled residents in the area to access the bus stop at the bottom of Warren Avenue, to get to the train station and hilltop shops and an accessible route to get to local supermarkets. As a result local people who use the route have maintained the pathway for over 20 years. Without this access, residents would either have to climb Warren Avenue hill (which is not accessible to those with medical conditions or mobility issues due to its steep incline) or take the alternative route via Hazel road adding distance to their already difficult journeys. As residents of Redmayne Grove and surrounding areas we are asking for your help to stop this action by petitioning to the local counsellors who are already aware of the issue and in support of our cause. Please sign this petition to keep the pathway a free through route for all to use and to stop the land being unfairly claimed. Thank you for your time and support.
