Yet again Harrogate’s residents have not been consulted on the latest Station Gateway proposal, now estimated to cost £12.1 million. A Freedom of Information request made earlier this year was turned down and yet another even more expensive plan put forward.

Both residents and business owners are opposed to this scheme.

This road is the main A road through Harrogate and if this unnecessary and unwelcome scheme goes ahead there will be significant interference to businesses and residents with disruption, increased congestion and pollution

What about the access for emergency vehicles and the delays construction, plus only one lane, will result in?

How will businesses who rely on vehicles cope?

The Harrogate Gateway project will encroach on many, many people’s lives and livelihoods.

This ugly construction will blight our town, carving a scar though its centre. The latest plans now include the removal of flower beds, grass and the little Tempietto, adding to the concrete jungle effect.

North Yorkshire Council seem determined NOT to listen to the worries of Harrogate’s people, ignoring people’s concerns and opposition.

People Power is needed to stop this.

We must try and stop this pointless process in our town.
