In the light of recent, and ongoing events in our country, we the people of Harrisonburg, VA would like to not only see the name of Turner Ashby High School changed, but also the removal of the Turner Ashby Monument in Harrisonburg, VA. Confederate generals have no right to be remembered with honor when their actions were a disgrace to this country. Born and raised in Harrisonburg, I know this city stands for so much more than the infamy of some confederate general. The statue is regressive and should have no place in today's society. If other cities can stand up for what is right then so can we! Please sign the petition and be a part of this change we desperately need in our friendly city of Harrisonburg, VA.
