Remove racist Harrisburg council members Ron Smith and Ian Patrick

Remove racist Harrisburg council members Ron Smith and Ian Patrick
The Issue
Harrisburg, NC council members Ian Patrick and Ron Smith have harassed and admitted to racist and hateful views. After the death of George Floyd the town of Harrisburg drafted a response that included the line: "shocking and tragic reminder of the social and racial injustices that exist in our country."
Ian Patrick took issue with the line and sited sources of his education and ability to understand racism as people such as Charles Murray, a pseudo-scientist whose work aims to prove the inferiority of BIPOC and women.
When Ms. Staton-Williams stated that the line should stay Ron Smith then filed a formal complaint against her to the mayor.
In 2020 this behavior and absolute ignorance and racism is totally unacceptable. Mr. Patrick and Mr. Smith do not speak for the residents of Harrisburg, NC.
Mr. Partick and Mr. Smith owe Ms. Staton-Williams an apology and should undergo anti-racist training and be removed from his position.
