Increase number of advanced computer science topics at Harker offered each year.

Increase number of advanced computer science topics at Harker offered each year.
The Issue
Currently, only two Honors Advanced Topics in Computer Science are offered every year. Each course is one semester long. Dr. Nelson teaches a plethora of HA CS courses, with one course being taught every year. The other semester includes either Computer Architecture or Compilers and Interpreters, taught by Ms. Peregrino and Ms. Datar respectively. This means:
1. Students have no choice in which HA CS courses they can take each year.
2. Students who take AP Computer Science in the 9th grade will be offered the same course in the 10th and 12th grade (either Computer Architecture or Compilers and Interpreters).
3. Students who wish to take a specific HA CS course (ex. AI Expert Systems) may never be able to take it, because it would have been offered in the years they were not eligible (pre Data Structures), but never again in the years they were in Harker. For example, suppose a student took AP CS DS in the 10th grade, but AI Expert Systems was offered when that student was in the 9th grade. That student will never be able to take AI Expert Systems.
We request that there be HA CS courses offered each year. Although there used to be four choices every year, an increasing interest in computer science has led to limited time available for HA CS topics. The proposition states that two of Dr. Nelson's courses be offered each yeat. The third course will either be Compilers and Interpreters or Computer Architecture, since these are the most common HA CS courses.
Students will now have more choice over which course they wish to take. In addition, students can take as many HA CS courses as they want without any repeats. This proposition will definitely satisfy students' interests in advanced computer science courses.
Thank you for taking the time to read this proposition. Please let us know if you have any questions or suggest any changes.
