Canada's Reserve Force veterans on the Service Income Support Insurance Plan (SISIP) have suffered enough!

We must be ON DUTY to get covered in the event of illness or injury, making it strange that we are not on VAC's program already. Yet we get a DEEMED payment of $2,000 per month, no matter what our rank was on release. This is HIGHLY unfair.

For example, I was a Captain. If I was on Veterans Affairs Earnings Loss Benefit (ELB), which is a copy of SISIP by the way, I would get $63,000 per year instead of $24,000!

How can they justify this? Last year they created EQUALITY within VAC by ending that discrimination but the SISIP, administered by MANULIFE, failed to obey the change in the law that fixed the injustice within the main program.

Had I been on that program instead of the ARBITRARY & inequitable SISIP program, I would not be writing this petition.

This OCTOBER, Canada is increasing the ELB to 90% of rank on release.

I am afraid that they will repeat the discrimination from last year by NOT increasing the SISIP to 90% so I see the answer as moving the FEW Reservists over to VAC.
